Organizational Statement of Purpose

Wildaplat Christian Fellowship was founded in 2016 to engage modern culture with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  While this is the goal of the Christian Church at large, small organizations like Wildaplat can often accomplish propagation of the Gospel in ways not easily achieved by typical church bodies.  The stated goals of Wildaplat in its charter document are:

  1. Planning, facilitating and conducting worship gatherings and outreach efforts
  2. Combating injustice by addressing the needs of the poor and underserved
  3. Supporting the work of various other Christian ministries.

Wildaplat Christian Fellowship is therefore committed to worship, discipleship, and the meeting of needs of those who lack knowledge in care of their spirits and their physical bodies.  Worship in this sense can be in the form of individual praise, prayer, and work accomplished to the glory of God; or in the form of many individuals meeting together to accomplish the same purposes.  Discipleship in the above sense will consist of teaching of spiritual truth according to the Gospel of Christ—either in the printed word or in the form of verbal spiritual teaching by individuals or groups of individuals committed to the above goals.  Combating injustice and addressing suffering in the above sense will be accomplished by individuals or groups of individuals who provide physical and educational resources to those who are in need.  The participants in activities of Wildaplat Christian Fellowship offer spiritual and physical blessings to each other and to those in their communities through provision of legal, medical, financial, and spiritual education—all given freely to the glory of God.

History of the Organization

Wildaplat Christian Fellowship was founded in 2016 by David Thies, John Thies, Nat Player, Daniel Player, Robert Metzger, and other members of the family of Wilma Pattison Player and David Campbell Player.  Wilma and David committed their lives and their fortune to propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Worship and discipleship were at the center of their lives.  Daily prayer for their three children, their children’s spouses, twelve grandchildren, grandchildren’s spouses, and a host of great grandchildren was the focus of their life activities.  Transfer of accumulated knowledge in a host of areas was of critical importance to David and Wilma.  Their posterity was the focus of their efforts, and the blessings of transferred knowledge were immeasurable.  Music, culinary art, poetry, drama, and spiritual teaching were Wilma’s forte. David’s strengths were in the practical things of life, with carpentry, home repairs, auto mechanics, and general wisdom regarding interpersonal relations and spiritual values being most important.  Downline education never stopped for either of them until the day of their deaths and completion of their life work.  God’s calling on each of them was the educational nurturing of those who came from them and countless friends and neighbors who crossed their paths.  It seemed fitting, for those who followed them to establish in their name an organization that was deeply committed to the principles that marked Wilma and David’s lives. The need for spiritual education, music education, legal education, medical education, and a moral consciousness to confront the evils of society never came to an end for Wilma and David, and will not come to an end for any of us. To the extent possible, Wildaplat Christian Fellowship desires to carry on the educational commitments of David and Wilma Player to their posterity and to those who surround their posterity.  It is anticipated that the blessings arising from this effort will honor David and Wilma and bless those who follow them for generations to come.
